  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2-3 drops doTERRA madagascar vanilla essential oil
  • 1-2 drops doTERRA cinnamin essential oil
  • pinch of salt

I recently found coconut whipping cream and will try this with almond milk and see how it comes out.  If you try a variation let me know how it comes out!


  1. whisk egg yolks and sugar together until light and creamy
  2. In a sauce pan over medium -high heat add and mix the heavy cream, milk, nutmeg, and salt
  3. Stir until mixture comes to a slow simmer, too long it will become custard
  4. Slowly add the milk mixture into the egg mixture 1 ladle at a time, whisk and add more.  Again it will turn into custard if you go to fast.
  5. Once combined add the mixture back into the sauce pan
  6. Whisk constantly until the temperature reaches 160 degrees using a thermometer
  7. Remove from the heat 
  8. Pour into a container
  9.  add the essential oils
  10. Cover and refrigerate
  11. Once chilled serve with whipped cream
