Ingredients:
- 6 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 2-3 drops doTERRA madagascar vanilla essential oil
- 1-2 drops doTERRA cinnamin essential oil
- pinch of salt
I recently found coconut whipping cream and will try this with almond milk and see how it comes out. If you try a variation let me know how it comes out!
Instructions:
- whisk egg yolks and sugar together until light and creamy
- In a sauce pan over medium -high heat add and mix the heavy cream, milk, nutmeg, and salt
- Stir until mixture comes to a slow simmer, too long it will become custard
- Slowly add the milk mixture into the egg mixture 1 ladle at a time, whisk and add more. Again it will turn into custard if you go to fast.
- Once combined add the mixture back into the sauce pan
- Whisk constantly until the temperature reaches 160 degrees using a thermometer
- Remove from the heat
- Pour into a container
- add the essential oils
- Cover and refrigerate
- Once chilled serve with whipped cream
